DESIGN + BUILD | A great combination!

At MOOD | Design + Build we pride ourselves in our ability to take a project from inception to completion. We work with residential and commercial clients to fuel a vision into reality and fill all the gaps in between.

There are various trades and modalities that are combined resulting in the need to manage and perform multiple functions at once. Having the right team in place with a balance of skills is imperative to a successful project.

We are a small, but mighty design and project management team dedicated to excellence in execution and customer experience. Our attention to detail and orientation to design and vision allows us to oversee and stay true to the course, particularly as inevitable challenges arise on and off the construction site.

For our residential clients, our specialty is full home renovations of all sizes. We also love kitchen and bathroom renovation, living spaces and basement build-outs. For our commercial clients we update, merchandise lobbies, clubrooms, office and suites. We enable greater brand identity and customer experience with our design + build teams.

Our team of talented designers have sophisticated educations and experience allowing us to work with various tastes, styles and budgets.

We are sensitive. As a company, we orient toward building and maintaining productive relationships with every person we do business with. We view our relationships as partnerships in which we learn, grow and create together. As inevitable conflicts and challenges arise, we stay the course toward excellence and integrity in business and design.

‘You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.’ - Walt Disney

Below is a list of 5 practical advantages of working with our MOOD | DESIGN + BUILD team…

  1. One source accountability | The MOOD | DESIGN+BUILD approach provides a single source for your entire project. The design+build method fosters teamwork and lends itself to cooperation.  The relationship built during the design phase helps to ensure that the stage is set for a successful construction project.

  2. Budget formation + management | Discussing budget during the design phase helps to keep the projects within a realistic budget.  Communicating the cost implications of design decisions ensures that the client plays a key role in arriving at the final project price.  Once the scope of work has been finalized, the project costs are clearly defined and controlled by our team.

  3. High level of communication | Specific design and construction details are being developed throughout the entire process. The communication benefits of working with a design professional and a construction expert at the same time ensures that potential problems are discovered before the project starts.

  4. Completion time | MOOD | DESIGN + BUILD projects tend to be completed in a shorter amount of time because bid time is reduced, scheduling for the project can begin before design is finalized, potential construction problems are uncovered early and enhanced communication between the client, vendors, contractors and suppliers keeps everything moving.

  5. Quality Control | The MOOD | DESIGN + BUILD method helps to remove ambiguity that may arise in material and construction specifications.  Since the designer, engineer and builder are from the same firm, the focus remains on protecting the clients interest.

The MOOD | DESIGN+BUILD process has inherent flexibility and lends itself well to residential and commercial projects. Through this combination the client realizes one-stop-shopping at its best. A complex and often times aggravating process becomes easier.

The project depicted in this article was a full renovation + merchandising of a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo on the North side of Chicago.  It was a team effort led by MOOD's talented designer + project manager, Ryan Richards. Learn more about our team here.
